If my 1M were going to stay outside, I would opt for a permanent sealant like Opti-coat. You won't get the depth of a Zaino, but you get the best protection from the elements. Not sure if a wax topper would bring out more depth.
Another long term wax/sealer alternative to Zaino that requires less "layering" is collinite.
