I have comfort access and I never put my key in the slot. I am assuming it writes to the key in real time. I guess I'm screwed if it saves the data and just writes it all to the key when you eventually put it in the car.

I have heard that in some cases the police have attempted to get access to the information stored by the car so they can get a better idea what was happening just before a car was involved in an accident. I suspect eventually the police will have access to this data when investigating an accident. Sigh.....
