S mode holds gears obnoxiously long for everyday driving. It will shift quicker too but it won't shift into 7th so it'll hurt your gas mileage.

Good summary. To me, I need something in between D and S. The clutch engagement feels laggy in D and feels much better in S. But then S lets the engine rev a bit too much for normal driving. I want the clutch engagement of S but not holding the gears as long. Yeah, should have gone with manual but I still like the DCT. Getting older and lazier.
