N54 recalls dealt with the high pressure fuel pump. There was also a recent recall on the N55 cars dealing with broken vanos bolts.

Not saying this is your issue, but it could be. Supposedly, it only affects cars with build dates of Dec. 2010 and earlier but the recall extends to 2012 model cars as well, perhaps for good measure on BMW's part. Run your VIN in one of the databases and it will tell you your build date.
