If it's a 1 series that's given the full ///M division engineering, then it should be called an ///M1. Simple! To call it anything else, just to accommodate history, would be silly.
Besides, the new ///M1 will outperform the "original" in every way, right!
Any BMW supercar should be called ///M10, and in fact I think BMW trademarked the term "M10" about 3 years ago.....
