I used the word glue loosely, and yes they do use adhesives on the edge of films. I've had multiple film kits installed and had to have 2 areas reattached due to lifting. There's no guarantee an installer can fix it but it's worth trying before you make a permanent cut.

I worked with film, we've never used adhesives for edges of film.
We use soap/water and then a heat gun to cure the film and activate the glue.
Typically when an edge has lifted for awhile, that part of the film is compromised. I can almost guarantee that the film will not sit back down perfectly
