OK, so, I think the thing is that putting an M badge on the back of a (non-M) car, regardless of one's reasons for doing so, does cause the car's mouth to begin writing checks its ass may be unable to cash. Is that a bad thing? Is the effect as strong as, say, installing a quad exhaust, or a big wing? I wonder. An interesting thing to think about.
I can't see myself doing that, but it's hard to get too riled up about. People can do what they want with their cars. As Elsabor67 said, people who know cars will know what's really going on.
