Either way, the hood has to be up for charging. 
There's the (remote) possibility that the clamps could slip off (though the CTEK does have reverse polarity protection)... I like the positive connection that the polarized connectors offer. |
I actually thread my leads down right next to the turbos I believe and then reach under the car to grab and plug in to the tender. There's not much room and it's a pain to do in the dark. But this way I can keep the hood closed while leaving it on the tender.
