Yep, sometimes(years) there is still snow up a top of the Alps/Stelvio Pass.
I think Stelvio normally opens up from the Winter Sperr(Closure) in early June. They have to wait for all that snow to melt away - or enough so they can plow thru it.
In June they hold a bicycle race(Giro) too about then.
The first year we toured Stelvio in our
Stelvio 1.0 tour we lucked out, since the pass was just opened up two weeks before and we had just missed the bicycle race as well.
I would suggest to drive Stelvio during a weekday. Stelvio can be quite crowded during the weekends.
