I'm ashamed to admit this happens to me too. It's usually when I'm holding my left hand too low on the steering wheel.

Here in Atlanta, blinkers are meaningless. You can have your blinker on for a minute before changing lanes, and if someone is in the lane you are getting into they will act pissed. Plus, if you signal that you want to change lanes too early, they will just close the gap so you can't get over. The brief 3 blink feature is perfect. There isn't enough time for them to stop you from getting over.

Here in Southern California, this discourtesy is happening more and more now that traffic has gotten so bad. I used to think California drivers were some of the best in the U.S. That has changed a lot.
