The wheels are generally pretty tough but there are quite a few reports of bubbling the sidewalls on the stock runflats after hitting potholes, myself included. You have a couple options: get a 135i and pay to swap the wheels to 17in as dackelone mentioned, settle for a 128i which will come with 17s, or just get the 135i and avoid potholes like a champ.

All that said, swapping the stock runflat tires for normal ones tends to improve ride quality and likely reduces the chance of damaging rims due to the more flexible sidewalls of normal tires.
