However, my real question is ... Do I need to get this fix ASAP before I take my car to the emission inspection since it is due within the next 4 weeks?

Or can I drive the car easy such that the error code won't pop up again and just to get the car into readyness mode for the emission inspection.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Make sure you replace you cam sensor " located behind intake manifold" i replaced my intake and exhaust solenoid and a couple weeks later i walnut blasted my car, after that it would crank on start and go the cam sensor replaced and car was fine after that. a bmw technician said usually the cam sensor goes bad after you replace your solenoids
