I hate when shops are greedy a-holes like that. They only really screw themselves. Instead of being honest, they try and make up the lost profits by adding labor cost. they want to profit from the sale of the part and the labored install. instead, they lose the business of both and they lose all the way around instead of making the labor money and trying to ean future business from you with good service. happens al the time here and I always find someone who would rather take my money then not eat that night.
