Well back to the original intent of this thread. On my STI a lot of weight was saved without sacrificing any of the practicality of the car as a DD.
Wheels are worth a few pounds per wheel/tire combo. The battery was another 15 to 20 lbs. when I switched to the lightweight batteries available. Another one was the exhaust system by switching from the OEM to an aftermarket one.
These mods saved at least 50 lbs and was very easy to install made you car perform better and also looked better.
