I dont know about you guys, but i drove a 328i loaner with that NA engine and it was horrible compared to my 135i. The power is unusable as you have to rev it really hard to get anything and it just seemed to make a lot of noise but not a lot of speed, at least compared to my 135i. The 328i with the turbo felt leagues closer to my 135i in terms of torque so i wouldn't hesitate to wait on the 228i.
