I think you can use any BMW approved LL-01 oil and you will be good (for the N52/N54/N55 engines). Just need to make sure it is actually an approved oil, not "recommended for" or some other similar phrase (for example, Redline is not an approved LL-01 oil). Other than that, the biggest difference being a 0W versus a 5W, where a 0W should give better start-up protection.
