The 39 month stretch-lease usually allows for a lower over-all cost of leasing because the residual either doesn't change from 36 months or changes only a very small amount.
It's usually a pretty good option on most BMW's and Mercedes.
This is actually a good option for the consumer, it's not something evil done by BMW to rape you any further.
