I bought my 1 for under 20k, have a 3rd party warranty on it for an extra 2k. The car had 75k on it when I bought it. The warranty is 3/36 and my loan is 4 years, with the mileage that was on the car it seemed logical to essentially prepay for future repairs instead of being hit with unexpected expenses as these cars (BMWs in general) are not cheap to repair.
