Cool First Sight of Production ActiveE All Electric 1-series. Shows 1-series LCI parts.

As reported on 1ADDICTS HOMEPAGE

We bring you the first photos of the all-electric BMW Concept ActiveE 1-series production model. This car was spotted during a commercial photo shoot. Compared to concept version, the production ActiveE receives more conventional wheels and tires, a different front bumper, a new hood with a bump, new headlight design, and "E Drive" badges.

The upcoming lifecycle impulse (aka "LCI" or "facelift) changes to the 1-series coupe and cabrio are seen here with new rear and front headlight lenses with LED technology and more reprofiled aerodynamics in the bumpers. The 1-series coupe and cabrio LCI, along with the 1M and Active E will be seen for the first time at the NAIAS in Detroit this early January.

Much like Mini Cooper's "Mini E" program taking place right now, BMW will introduce this electrified 1-series coupe to drivers in a few select markets. Metro New York, Southern California, Northern California and Boston have been chosen as the testing grounds.

Also similar to the Mini E electric car, the ActiveE is powered by a rear-mounted electric motor that produces 170 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque, which propels the ActiveE from 0-60 in 8.5 seconds to a top speed of 90mph. The juice is stored in a chained-together group of lithium-ion batteries – quite similar to how the Tesla Roadster is set up. The ActiveE is claimed to have a range of about 100 mile per charge.
