If you get the open DCI the theory is that you'll increase intake temps due to pulling in warmer ambient air. There are a few threads where this is argued at length. It's (obviously) debatable.
Now it seems to me that if you get an open DCI along with a better intercooler that should mitigate the ambient heat from the engine bay and you'll end up having better airflow. But this is my approach, opinions will (and do) vary.
