Your car should not need coolant. You either have a leak or it's over heating. Might be a bad water pump? Have you checked for codes? 2008's only go about 60K to 70K miles before the water pump dies.
I would only use BMW coolant. I don't think GM has the same coatings on the inners of their engines. Best to be safe using BMW coolant.
