a lot of the warranty concerns are just dependant on your dealer. for example, i have a dealer in texas that i took my 135i and 335i to, with catless downpipes, intercooler, intakes, and procede installed on both cars. they never said anything, neither did i. i had free oil changes done, hpfp replaced, head unit replaced (135i), and a few other random service visits.

now, if i tried to claim wastegate rattle or something to do with the intercooler, i probably woudn't have had warranty service done for free. for regular visits and maintenance, however, it was fine.

1911a145 is right, just don't try to claim warranty repair on a part or section that you've modified.

dealers get paid by bmwna to complete warranty service; they're not owned by bmwna. so, it's in their best interest to complete warranty work on the cars, since bmwna cuts them a check for the parts/labor. as long as you're cool and not douchey with the service advisor, chances are you'll be fine.
