I definitely get you on the "rawness" part. The Miata was very barebones compared to the 1-series. It was loud, bumpy, and rackety.
The shifter in my Miata was pretty tight with a short throw, which I really liked compared to any other car. However, the BMW Performance SSK really tightened things up the BMW. I drove my Miata after driving the BMW with the SSK and clutch stop, and definitely prefer the BMW's shifting now.
I had Bride Low Maxx seats in the Miata which were great. Loved how tight they held me in. The 1-series
sport seats are great though for stock seats, plus they are very adjustable.
Overall, I love how reliable and stable the BMW feels. Go FBO and E85 and you'll never look back.
