US and Canada production used the same VIN sequence and Canada production was interspersed with US production. Until every VIN between you and number 1 has been identified as US or Canada, or every Canadian VIN has been accounted for then you cannot know.
As of right now, ~20 of the ~200 Canadian cars have been claimed in the registry. Around 340 of the 740 US cars have been claimed. I'm not sure we will be able to use the registry to determine actual US production number for a long time. Hopefully BMWNA will help us out here.
