I have an N54. I know the N55(and 1M) use less fluid in the gear box. (only 1.1L vs 2.1L for my car).
Its better to have more fluid on hand than less. Besides... you can always use it later on for that second trans fluid change!
It is really so easy there is no reason why you should change the trans/diff fluids more often. Forget BMW's Lifetime fluid BS.
