Most of them are integrated into the valve stem (I'm not sure about BMWs, but I know Honda and Toyota both are), and it's simply a matter of taking them out of the factory wheels and putting them in the new wheels.
Also, the newer systems are temperature compensated, so you shouldn't be getting false alarms in the cold if your tires are at the correct pressure.
