I change my oil every 5k miles. I'd run out if I waited till 15k (literally). Think about it. BMW used to say 3-5k and now when it's on their dime they say 15k.
Doing this takes these cars out of the "used car pool" later so they can sell new more easily. BMW says 100k on transmission fluid! That's freaking crazy.
Think about it, if you're leasing then just go with it and hand the thing back, but if you own it you'll be way better off keeping your changes more frequently. Trusting a dealer, manufacturer, etc. is like trusting the government. Feels good...but winds up screwing you some how.
