Ditching the RTFs on new 128i

My car is off the coast of Baja and I pick it up in around a week. It has the M-Sport Style 207M staggered 7x17/7.5x17 (which I find attractive enough for the time being), but everywhere there are horror stories about the RTFs and I'd like to get rid of them as soon as possible.

Stock is 205/50 x 225/45. Interestingly, the 205s are always measured on a 6.5 inch rim for their baseline so when I change to a 215/45 (a hair shorter), I get much better options.

I'm thinking Michelin PSS 215/45 and 225/45.

Thoughts?

Beyond the advantages of non-RTFs, I'm hoping for a little less understeer. (not expecting miracles)

Eventually, I'm leaning towards 17 x 8 OZ Alleggerita HLTs all around, but that's a ways off. Again, thoughts? Are they durable enough for a street driven vehicle, well made, etc?
