I never seen a 1er over here with a trailer hitch on it. I see tons of Golf's and other small cars with trailer hitches. I did a quick search on
www.google.de and came up with a few hits.

I think the main problem with the 1M is that the exhaust muffler sits transverse across/under the rear bumper. Right where a trailer hitch would go. I don't know how you would get around that.
