So I finally got to try out what everyone seems to hate....a 2011 328xi loaner while my 1 is in for hpfp/injectors/seatbelt/reprogram.
I have to say, I don't get the hatred. Maybe all of you are turbo boost junkies, but the NA i6 in the 328 is smooth as butter and it has more than enough power. Mind you, I don't daily my 135, and alternate between a Mini Cooper S and an Acura MDX, the 328 was a very welcome change. When it got boring, I put it in DS and either let it hold gears and drive aggressively or went up and down the steptronic gears. In traffic, I slipped it back into D and just putted around effortlessly. My loaner has PP/CW/328 value package and to me its perfect. It also has the Logic 7 (or upgraded stereo) and it sounds great. I could do with xenons but honestly this as-is would be a great daily driver for me. This engine is probably more durable in the long haul than the N54 will ever be.
