The best detailer will always be yourself. UNLESS you find someone who truly loves cars. I use to manage a VERY small detail shop in a parking garage. We did a great business because we hand washed and took care of the cars. Everything from Ferarries to mini vans.

You also have to see what products they use. If they have the ability to explain what eachone does you are golden. But I hate to say it, even a NOVICE detailer might be better at doing his own car than an EXPERT detailer who doesnt give a crap. You will pay SOOO much more attention to what you do on your car than anyone else will. I hope that makes sense. It only takes a little time and elbow grease.
