You can do what I did back when I got my e46. Take the jack stand upper portion, and trim the ears down on each end so they fit inside the jack pads at each corner. Use your floor jack at each end of the vehicle (subframe pad in front, diff body in back) to raise each end of the vehicle and put the stands in place. Due to the slightly concave profile along the top of the stands, I have still been able to use them across the pinch weld on other vehicles like VW even. Works great, and the positive engagement of the stand inside the BMW pads provides extra peace of mind when you're under the car.
