CHARLESTON, S.C. — The world's largest steamship company, Maersk Line, is closing a customer service center in Charleston affecting 140 jobs.
The company says the employees who work in sales and administration can either relocate or get severance packages.
The company is the largest client for the Port of Charleston and will have just 75 employees in the area when the center closes in August.
Maersk is making the changes to cut costs. Last month the company announced it was cutting 3,000 jobs worldwide.
