You can take a look at the TireRack figures where they tell you what size tire can be fit on what width wheel. I've actually seen M3s with 295 rears on the stock 10" Competition wheels, with no rubbing nor pronounced 'bulging' of the tire, though I personally would not go that far. You do want to keep weight (especially rolling mass) down.

The PSSs are a lot firmer than the PS2s, so there won't be an issue with flex. They are also very square (should be called Super Squares), more so than even the Bridgestone RE11s, and their new sidewall technology (use of spirally wound Twaron) makes them very firm.
