I like mustangs too, and they are a great value for the dollar.
But I really doubt that an average driver would post a better time in the mustang vs the M3. My bet is that it would be very close, driver fear being the limiting speed.
They are both very quick and if you keep the revs up pretty responsive.
IMHO the M3 corners better but the average driver wouldn't use it anyway.

But the M3 wins hands down on interior style!
