Andy, the plates don't buy you any additional camber. At the same time, they won't keep you from doing anything that will add camber. They are just there for reenforcement at the top of the strut. Install is removing the three strut nuts dropping on the plate and putting the nuts back on. Do one side at a time. With the weight of the car on the struts, taking the nuts off and putting them right back on won't impact your alignment as long as you don't bump or lean on the car excessively hard.
