That thread is very long and starts with the premise that tools are needed to carefully open the clips. There is an easier way to skin a cat. Grab the grilles on either side by the vertical fins installed on your car now and pulling the straight out(using some force) they pop right out. The new ones pop right in. No tools or fancy tecniques needed.
I was told this by 2 BMW mechanics. Did mine in a few minutes. The last couple pages of that thread descibed the same by several members.
