Thank you for the replies. I will try adjusting the sensitivity and turning the volume on the iPhone all the way up to see if that helps. I was hoping to find a non-analog way but my understanding is that even with the BMW Y-Cable it still uses the analog portion for music transmission. I'll give the Mediabridge connector a try, it looks like a solid piece of kit.
