I call BS on the "BMW wont sell you a 1M part over the counter"..
they would sell there mother if there was someone willing to buy her and make a profit...
( the only parts they MAY be able to control are vin specific parts like DME's and CAS control units)
but to answer OP's question... exterior badging to be an imposter is wrong..
