Another thing, this article is not written with the North American market in mind, and I wouldn't be surprised if BMW kept this car away from us. Euro marques generally keep their lower end cars out of our market to preserve their brand cache (Audi A1, A2; Mercedes A-Class, B-Class, CLC-Class).

I agree on both points. This makes no sense whatsoever.
Of course, a lot of the stuff BMW is doing lately makes no sense to me.
