Yes, that would fit just fine on the rear axle. And with a 225 tire the tire dia would be pretty close to the OE wheels/tires.
Btw... after my flat tire last weekend. I am dumping my alloy spare for a full size spare tire. I decided to order a 7jx17 steel wheel from an e46 330i. It has a ET of 48 which is a perfect fit for our 1er's. And I will mount a 205/55HR17 tire on it - so I won't be limited to only 80 kph like with my space saver. Besides that space saver was kind of scary when you would change lanes or do anything but drive straight. Nein Danke.
