No DIY, but pretty simple. Tools: #20 Torx screwdriver, razor blade or Exacto knife; hair dryer. Time: 30-60 minutes.
1. Using a #20 Torx, remove the 3 screws on the backside of the steering wheel. These screw into the plastic trim from the back. Can be a little tricky to get to; turn the wheel to a good spot.
2. Once the screws are out (they will not come all the way out but will disconnect from the trim), gently pry the trim out from behind the horn/airbag area.
3. As you pull the trim out, you'll notice the voice and cruise controls are connected from inside to the wheel. Remove the one screw on each side and let the controls hang. Now you have the trim out.
4. Remove the aluminum trim by removing the two screws on each and wiggling the tabs loose. Don't worry about breaking the tabs, the screws are good enough to keep the trim in place.
5. Make sure the trim is clean and does not have any waxes, oils, etc that will keep the wrap from sticking.
6. Size up the wrap, lay it face down, peel it, and lay the trim face down on it.
7. It's good to use a hair dryer to make the wrap more flexible. Heat it (but not too much) and wrap it tight to the trim, smoothing it out as you go. No need for any tops; fingers will work fine for tho small piece.
8. Trim around the edges. I prefer to trim to the edge instead of wrapping it underneath.
9. Replace the aluminum trim, reverse the disassembly steps and you're done!
