For the 2011 model I don't get the y adapter. I use my Apple USB cable to plug directly into the USB slot below the arm rest.
The crazy part about this is that the ipod is formatted for windows as fat, and I can play music from my USB stick from the same port no problem. There must be some handshake issue with the ipod and the car computer.
Do you think that BMW phased out the mini as an incompatible set? I was really hoping to put a 32GB CF in the mini and give me a sizeable music ipod jukebox.
