I did mine the other day - I'm paranoid about getting any little scratch, even on parts you can't see or don't normally look at. I ended up taking the rubber off the top just so I had some more room to work with when pulling the top of the grill area forward. I used the L tool to undo the bottom clips and pull out, then moved to the top w/ a small screwdriver. After I undone one of the top clips, the thing pretty much came out easily.
It's funny how that side clip don't do ishhh
