That whole area is literally central CA, right next to the ocean. Perhaps the best overall location to be for nice waves and beaches.
A lot of nice small towns are scatterred throughout that area, from San Luis Obispo (nice, quaint college town) to Pismo (home of one of the most popular/commercial beaches in CA).
There are BMW dealers to be found throughout the area. I don't have any opinions on any but it's almost common knowledge today that the Santa Barbara dealer is considered to be one of the country's best European Delivery dealers.
