the only thing i might have to take car to shop for is resetting computer, but there may be ways to do that myself... i have read online.

Re-setting the maintenance timer is extremely easy to do, and I would never pay someone to do it. If you can hold a button down for 7-10 seconds, scroll through the menu with your BC stalk and then press another button to reset, you can do it yourself.
