If we were comparing these wheels on a car that could fit either set up without problems and the same size tire than the 18x9.5" ET22 should provide better handling. This is due to a wider track width from the lower offset wheel. The 18x9.5" ET22 will not fit a 1 series without serious widebody fender modifications. The best size and offset wheel for handling on any car is one with the width and offset spec'd to provide the widest tire set up.

We always recommend either the 18x9.5" ET58 EC-7 or 18x9.5" ET62 ARC-8 for maximum width rear tire fitment on the 1 series.
