This also happens (very sporadically) with my '06 130i... Kinda sounds like when the exhaust flap opens and closes (but it can't be the flap because I've done the golf tee mod). Doesn't seem to affect performance, and it's so slight, only I can detect it, not anybody else in the car with me. Strange.
