Like others said it depends on you SA and relationship with the dealer. I wore the seat bolster out on a 3 series I had a few years ago and they replaced it under warranty. The plastic steering wheel trim started pealing on my 135i and it was replaced under warranty. I think they would replace the steering wheel if the relationship is good. My gearshift knob is wearing much like your steering wheel. I shall mention it next time I am in for service and hopefully they will replace it. To me it is always worth asking to cover it under warranty.
