If you like active steering, that alone probably indicates the 1M isn't a great fit for you.
And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. I had an e90 m3 that wasn't the right car for me.
I have driven a 335is 6mt and really liked it. It sounds fantastic, and has a great interior. The ride comfort is also an excellent balance for the street.
It's not nearly as sharp as the 1M, which is why I like the 1M more. But, it's a great car in its own right.
I will say there is no way I'd buy that car new when used ones are available for around 40k.
Plus the new 4 series is about to come out, so avoid some depreciation by buying used
